Rules and Regulations
Rules for Piping and Drumming Competition
- All Entry Forms must be accompanied by the required entry fee and signed waiver of liability,
and must be postmarked no later than the date indicated on the entry form.
No telephone entries will be accepted.
Each competitor will receive acknowledgment of their entry.
- No Field Entries will be accepted for pipe band, solo piping and solo drumming competitions on the day of the Games.
Field Entries for drum major competition only will be accepted.
- All entry and admission fees must be in US currency.
a. Individual Piping & Drumming - Each competitor must pay admission to the Games at the Gate.
This amount covers the fee for the first event entered. Each additional event will be $5.00.
b. Pipe Bands - Each band member must pay admission to the Games at the Gate.
Band competition fees are: Grade 2 $50, Grade 3 $40, Grade 4 $30, Grade 5 $25
c. Drum Majors - Each drum major must pay admission to the Games at the Gate.
This amount covers the fee for the Novice Drum Major competition. The Open Drum Major competition will be $5.00.
- All competitors must register and obtain competitor numbers at the Secretary's Tent (opens 7:30am).
Individual Competitors must be members of EUSPBA or other Recognized Associations and will be required to show membership cards at registration.
Membership can be obtained the day of the Games from the EUSPBA representative.
- Competitor numbers must be worn along with Highland Dress in order to compete.
- No medals may be worn while competing.
- If a competitor is not present when their number is called, he/she is subject to disqualification.
Competitors failing to appear within two (2) minutes of their scheduled competition time WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
- Pipe Band, Individual Piping and Drumming competitions are sanctioned and monitored by EUSPBA.
Decisions by the Stewards and Judges are final.
Any complaints concerning the Games may be forwarded to the Round Hill Highland Games Secretary along with a $5.00 processing charge.
- In order to receive their prize money, winning competitors must present their score sheets to the Piping & Drumming Coordinator at the Secretary's Tent.
- If in any contest there are equal or less competitors than prizes allotted, The Round Hill Highland Games, Inc.
reserves the right to award one less prize than the number of competitors.
- The Round Hill Highland Games, Inc. reserves the right to add or remove events from the schedule and make other changes,
as long as its action is within the scope of EUSPBA rules, and is, in its judgment, in the best interest of conducting the Games.
Rules for Highland Dancing Competition
- All Entry Forms must be accompanied by the required entry fee and signed waiver of liability,
and must be postmarked no later than the date indicated on the entry form.
No telephone entries will be accepted.
Each competitor will receive acknowledgment of their entry.
- No Field Entries will be accepted the day of the Games.
- All entry and admission fees must be in US currency.
a. All dancers must pay admission to the Games at the Gate. DO NOT send entry fees prior to the Games.
b. Dancing Competitors showing their FUSTA card will pay $10 at the Gate. Without the card the fee will be $15.
c. $1 of entry fee goes to FUSTA Eastern Region.
- All competitors must register and obtain competitor numbers at the Dancing Pavillion (opens 7:30am).
FUSTA card must be presented at registration in order to dance.
- Competitor numbers must be worn along with Highland Dress in order to compete.
All dancers must use changing tent.
- No medals may be worn while competing.
- If a competitor is not present when their number is called, he/she is subject to disqualification.
Competitors failing to appear within two (2) minutes of their scheduled competition time WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
- Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (SOBHD) rules will be followed and judges' decisions are final.
Any complaints concerning the Games may be forwarded to the Round Hill Highland Games Secretary along with a $5.00 processing charge.
- Age grouping is subject to change depending on the number of entries received.
Ages are computed on the day of competition.
- If in any contest there are equal or less competitors than prizes allotted, The Round Hill Highland Games, Inc.
reserves the right to award one less prize than the number of competitors.
- The Round Hill Highland Games, Inc. reserves the right to add or remove events from the schedule and make other changes,
as long as its action is within the scope of SOBHD rules, and is, in its judgment, in the best interest of conducting the Games.
Rules for Athletic Events
- All adult (18+) competitors must register and obtain competitor numbers at the Secretary's Tent (opens 7:30am).
All competitors must sign a waiver of liability. Parents must sign a waiver of liability for participating children under the age of 18.
- All competitors must pay admission to the Games at the Gate. Entry fee for the caber toss is $5.00.
There is no entry fee for other athletic events. All entry and admission fees must be in US currency.
- Wearing the kilt in athletic competition is encouraged, but is not mandatory.
- Competitors failing to appear within two (2) minutes of their scheduled competition time will be disqualified.
- No medals may be worn while competing.
- Decisions by the Stewards and Judges are final.
